The Paisley Box

Box number 1 we are fondly referring to as the “Paisley Box”. This is the first of 6 recipe boxes belonging to our Gramma June (filled to the max with recipes) that we have scanned in and are testing. It is mostly yellow and orange and has a flowery paisley design on it and says “Avon” on the bottom.

Most of these recipes are from the 70s although there are some that have been wedged in from later years (like 1980 or even 2018) - but the vast majority are from the 1970s. There are approximately 300 recipes in this box that we have been adding to the site gradually and you can access them all through the index or by clicking here and you can see the most recent ones that we’ve cooked listed below!

Recipe boxes and tins on gramma’s shelf in the kitchen.

Photo taken in 2018.

This shelf is right in the kitchen and at child’s eye level. Gramma did keep recipe boxes here but would also have small tins and things that she would let the kids play with with they came over to the cabin.

You can see the paisley box down on the bottom shelf.
