Fruit Fritters

“Dear Forum:” We tried these fruit fritters with apples and they were delicious. Something like a funnel cake or donut…with enough sweetness from fresh fruit and powdered sugar to make it extra special.

The dough is simple enough - it’s rather thick and sticky. I would like to put berries in these next time…I think something tart and sweet would be really tasty. Almost like a jelly donut perhaps…? The apples were a little too low on flavor for me and certainly best when warm. Possibly adding more powdered sugar or actually making an icing or glaze would have added the “flavor” my mouth was hoping for!

The key here is to get your oil nice and hot and don’t wander off. Once your oil is hot, these globs of dough you drop in will start to change quickly. Flip them and get them golden brown all around. Look at that spongey texture! Yum!
