Molasses Brown Bread

Another “Dear Forum” recipe for you today and another hearty bread to ward off the chill.

I used bran flake cereal and wondered if I should crunch it up before mixing but turns out that my dump and mix method worked out totally fine.

The batter was quite liquid-y (so don’t be alarmed) and I was impressed by how dark and rich the bread tasted. Super tasty with a little butter or slice of sharp cheese.

Overall I found it to be easy to make (no yeast needed - it's a quick bread) and satisfying to eat. I would definitely make this again and possibly just use wheat bran instead of cereal and put it in a muffin tin instead of making it into a loaf. I just like muffins and how easy they are to grab when you need a snack!

As a side note: I feel like I need to say something about the suggestion to use two metal cans to bake this bread in. Who remembers making bread (or even more specifically - brown bread) in metal cans?

I found another blog post about it with suggestions on how to do it if you want to make your own little brown bread circles! Click here to read about it.
