Spaghetti Tomato Sauce
Emily and I made this spaghetti ‘tomatoe’ sauce together for bake club. She ended up using a plant based meat and it turned out really well. Overall we agreed this was a simple recipe, easy to work on with the kids. A great, basic red-sauce recipe that is a happy medium between spending hours over the stove with fresh tomatoes and just opening a jar of pre-made spaghetti sauce. Enjoy!
Spagetti tomatoe sauce
1 can tomato paste (6 oz)
2 cans tomato sauce (6oz)
2 bay leaves
1 clove garlic
sprinkle of oregano
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 small onions
hamburger
Simmer all together at least an hour.
Our general notes about the recipe:
We recommend cooking the onions in the base of your pan first till they are clear or cooked. Then brown your meat (we both used about a pound) - you can do this with your onions in the pan. THEN add in all the tomato ingredients and spices. Your garlic can be added in with the onions if you are using fresh but if using ground garlic powder, toss it in with the other spices. We both decided to add more oregano so feel free to adjust the sauce to your own tastes!
