This is an easy and versatile muffin recipe. The batter seemed thick and sticky to me much like a biscuit batter. They are mild and not sweet - also reminiscent of a biscuit - so I think you could push these towards the sweet or savory side depending on what you add in.

We tried these with a Macintosh apple and some cinnamon sugar over the top and they were best hot out of the oven in my opinion. Next time I would like to try baking these with blueberries in them…I love blueberries and I think the tart-sweetness would be tasty in these.
