Party Fried Noodles

“Party Fried Noodles” are fun and simple to make. I’m not sure why they are called “Party Fried Noodles” but I love it and you would blow everyone’s socks off if you took this to a pot-luck party (according to my teenager). It’s a super snack food - crunchy and salty! Fun to eat, fun to talk about and fun to make!

Party Fried Noodles

1 pkg (8 oz 1/2” wide egg noodles

Vegetable oil

Garlic, garlic, onion or celery salt (can use seasoned salt on other side of card)

Cook noodles in boiling salted water, drain thoroughly. Toss with 3 T oil.

Pour more oil into a deep large pan to a depth 1 inch. Heat to 375 degrees. With a slotted spoon pick up a few noodles at a time, lower gently into oil, separating as they fry. Cook one or two minutes turning once, until crisp and lightly golden. Drain on paper towels.

While hot, sprinkle noodles with your choice of seasonings. Repeat until all noodles are fried. Makes about 10 cups.

“Makes nice xmas gift put into a jar.”

Seasoned Salt.

6 T salt

2 1/4 t paprika

1 t. dry mustard

1/2 t. thyme

1/2 t. marjoram

1/2 t. garlic salt or powder

1/2 t. curry powder

1/2 t. celery salt

1/2 t. onion salt or powder

1/8 t. dill seed

Place all ingredients in a blender, cover, whirl at high-speed for one minute or until well mixed. Makes about 1/2 cup. Use on hamburgers or snacks.

See! So simple: Make your seasoning salt, boil the noodles, drop into hot oil to fry, then sprinkle with the seasoning salt and crunch away!

Some notes:

  1. Make sure your oil is hot! and use a container that will keep the oil from bubbling up and burning you. Once you gently place the cooked noodles into the hot oil, the oil bubbles up as they are frying. I used a deep heavy sauce pan and it worked really well.

  2. This seasoning salt is really good. Almost a-kin to a Frito or Dorito chip flavor but I can definitely imagine using this on hamburgers. If you don’t keep a lot of these spices on hand and you want to give it a try, I would suggest going in on it with someone or making a big batch and gifting it to friends!
